Parish & Finance Council

Parish Council

Kelly Kleiderer

I grew up in Spokane and graduated from Gonzaga Prep. After living in Washington, DC, for several years, I returned to Spokane with my family in 2015 and joined the St. Al’s Parish Community.

My family has celebrated many sacraments at St. Al’s, and we’re thankful to be part of a Jesuit parish and continue the spiritual practices I valued deeply at G-Prep, Georgetown University, and as a Jesuit Volunteer in Belize.

My husband, John, and I are raising four wonderful children, ages 9–16. I’m active in the community, caring for women and families as a Nurse Midwife/Nurse Practitioner, and I am honored and excited to serve on the Parish Council.

I look forward to meeting you and hearing about your hopes for the St. Al’s Parish Community.

Charlie McElligott

My wife, Tina, and I have been parish members since 2010 when we relocated. We returned to the Pacific Northwest after 22 years in northern California (Walnut Creek and Lodi), where I served on parish and finance councils.

I retired from a career in agricultural banking in 2020 and now find myself doing some consulting work while incorporating grandparent travel (8 grandchildren in California) and adventure travel.

My hobbies include golf, tennis, cycling, skiing, hiking, and reading.

Bob Jundt

Esther and I joined St. Al’s Parish 14 years ago after moving from Texas. It didn’t take us long to fall in love with the parish, clergy, and community. We had found our spiritual home.

Esther became involved in several ministries, including being a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and usher. I also found several ministries of interest. I serve as a sacristan, usher, and Eucharistic Minister. I also joined the Knights of Columbus and served as their Grand Knight, currently serving as their Trustee and Program Director.

Being a member of the Knights has given me an outlet and the commitment to help others in our parish and community. It has also connected me to work directly with St. Aloysius Grade School on several of our projects.

Since joining the parish, we have become part of the Saturday 5:00 PM Mass community. St. Aloysius has truly become an integral part of our social and spiritual life.

I look forward to serving in any capacity on the Parish Council.

Matt Velasco

My name is Matt Velasco. Michele and I have been parishioners at St. Aloysius Church since 2015, but my association with the parish goes back to 1973, when I first attended Mass as a freshman at Gonzaga University (GU). Our oldest daughter, Jennifer, was baptized here in 1977.

After graduating from GU in 1978, I served as an Army officer for thirty years, retiring in 2008 and returning home to Spokane. I became an apprentice carpenter in 2010 and then a certified Master Gardener in Spokane County in 2014.

I love to garden, have an eclectic collection of vinyl, and enjoy tasting and collecting wine. I’m also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the President of the Master Gardener Foundation Spokane County (a 501c3 non-profit), and serve on the House Committee at the Spokane Club.

Michele and I celebrated our 47th anniversary in June. We have four children, 14 grandchildren, and live in a 1911 Craftsman bungalow that we continue renovating and restoring to its original simple beauty.

St. Aloysius Church is an important asset not only to its parishioners and Gonzaga but also to the community at large. Our parish has a vital mission of caring for and supporting those less fortunate than us, especially the disenfranchised, the weak, those with disabilities, and our homeless brothers and sisters.

It is also important that we continue to fully support Catholic education and be responsible stewards of the environment. We must endeavor to encourage our parish to volunteer time and treasure to support St. Aloysius and its many charitable works.

I look forward to working on the council, serving our parish members, volunteering with fellow Roman Catholics, and enriching my spiritual life here at St. Aloysius Church.
