Mission & Values

Parish Mission Statement

Rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our tradition of Ignatian Spirituality, St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Parish strives to welcome and empower all who journey in faith towards knowing, loving and serving God and one another.

Parish Vision Statement

Inspired by our patron, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, we live out our faith in loving service to God and one another through cooperation with the Catholic Diocese of Spokane and the Jesuits West Province. Together we work to advance the kingdom of God for the salvation of souls through the following:

Gathering

  • Building upon the rich legacy of Jesuit works in the Inland Northwest in collaboration with Gonzaga University, Gonzaga Preparatory School, and St. Aloysius Gonzaga Grade School
  • Demonstrating hospitality which welcomes people into the community of faith, parishioners and visitors alike
  • Serve as a bridge and dialogue partner between society & culture and faith & the Church

Nourishing

  • Celebrating vibrant Eucharistic celebrations of Word and Sacrament
  • Inspired by Ignatian Spirituality
  • Creating welcoming environments for all people who join for sacraments and services, especially baptisms, weddings, reconciliation and funerals.
  • Stewarding the spaces which we have inherited to worship and foster community rooted in faith

Missioning

  • Seeking to find Christ in the world while witnessing to the Catholic faith
  • Providing intentional opportunities to explore Ignatian Spirituality and discernment
  • Outreach to those on the margins, promoting a faith that does justice
  • Collaborating with local organizations and ministries compelled by the Gospel call to loving service and witness
  • Discerning our responses to God and the Church with reference to our time, talents and treasure

Our Vision

  • To be a community of Jesuits and apostolic partners formed by the Gospel and the Spiritual Exercises to expand Jesus’ ministry of healing, reconciling and teaching in service of the diverse people in our ministries.
  • As a parish we invited out parishioners to experience the transformative power of God’s love through our weekly liturgies and our pastoral and social ministries.

Our Values

  • Responding with intellectual rigor to the most challenging issues of our times.
  • Employing Ignatian discernment in decision-making
  • Caring for the poor, the vulnerable, and our common home, the earth.
  • Serving the Church with creativity and fidelity to the Jesuit tradition.
  • Bridging societal divides and fostering understanding among diverse people and cultures.
  • Collaborating regionally, through partnership and networks, to serve the people of God.
