Liturgical Ministries
“Liturgy is like a strong tree whose beauty is derived from the continuous renewal of its leaves, but whose strength comes from the old trunk, with solid roots in the ground. “
– Pope Paul VI
All Catholics are invited to minister at our Eucharistic Celebrations if you feel called to do so.
Eucharistic Ministers
This ministry has become a cherished activity of many parishioners at St. Aloysius Church. Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist in distributing the Body of Christ in Holy Communion at all Masses celebrated at our parish.
Lectors
The proclamation of Scripture to the assembly of the faithful is given the dignity and attention it deserves. Lectors are supported and trained to proclaim the Word transparently and clearly, so that the Word itself, not the proclaimer, is in the foreground.
Altar Servers
Serving at the altar is an important and responsible ministry that enhances prayer. Third graders and older are welcome to participate in the Eucharistic Liturgy as altar servers. They will be trained to understand the structure and prayers of the Mass.
Ushers
At St. Aloysius, the ushers are the givers of the “first impression,” and embody the church as a welcoming community to all who choose to attend.
Sacristans
The sanctuary is a place of peace, where one can go to commune with the Lord. Often times, not much though is given to the preparation involved in that experience. The role of a Sacristan is to help Mass run as smoothly as possible from “behind the scenes.”
