Dear St. Aloysius parish,
Happy Easter! May God bless you and your families as you celebrate the life and love of Jesus which conquers all things. Our faith is rooted in this love that is stronger than any sin or hurt and his life that overcomes death. In the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola, we are invited to imagine Jesus’ joy at the resurrection and to stand with it. A joy that is able to stand juxtaposed to the injustice, cruelty and, brutality of the cross. It is a joy that we can find hard to understand, but it is joy nonetheless. In our world today we know too much racism, injustice, and COVID threat. We have lost loved ones and sometimes have isolated ourselves in silos. Today we celebrate Resurrection.
As Jesus’ disciples, may we know his joy, and may it be the foundation of our hope that Jesus’ message of love redeems our world. It is in deep gratitude for all of you that I pray to our Lord. May the joy of Jesus Christ be yours today and during this Easter season.
We are an Easter people,
Fr. Tom Lamanna, S.J.
